'Dilbert' Creator Scott Adams Compares Women Asking for Equal Pay to Children Demanding Candy  → comicsalliance.com

stfusexists:

“The reality is that women are treated differently by society for exactly the same reason that children and the mentally handicapped are treated differently. It’s just easier this way for everyone. You don’t argue with a four-year old about why he shouldn’t eat candy for dinner. You don’t punch a mentally handicapped guy even if he punches you first. And you don’t argue when a women tells you she’s only making 80 cents to your dollar. It’s the path of least resistance. You save your energy for more important battles.”  -Scott Adams

I love how he almost comes out and says exactly what he actually means, which is, “Women are treated like children and disabled persons because they are incapable of doing things men can”. That’s patently false, and that’s why we’re all pissed that women are getting paid less to do the exact. Same. Things.

What an asshole. Dilbert was mediocre at best, you jackass!

“Don’t worry about it, I’m going to spray these kids down.” —Lt. John Pike (according to a pepper-sprayed protester at UC Davis) • Speaking to fellow officers before the infamous pepper-spray incident on Friday. According to the protester, who spoke at length anonymously to Boing Boing, the pepper spray he used was military grade, and it still hurts, two days later. “It’s supposed to be used at a minimum of 15 feet,” the protester told Xeni Jardin. “But he sprayed us at point blank range.” Highly recommend you read Boing Boing’s photo-heavy account of the incident, which is very informative. source (via • follow)

mypantsareonfire replied to your link: FOLLOW UP

when i first read it i asked my followers to send him some love and then i saw your post about him. i respect someone who has an argument and can express it in coherent forms but people who just rant make me laugh and i just ignore them.

I kinda got the incentive from your post, but credit given where credit is due, a lot of people who reblogged and responded weren’t very violent or threatening which is often with anti-homophobia posts on Tumblr.

“Sharing and recommendation shouldn’t be passive. It should be conscious, thoughtful, and amusing—we are tickled by a story, picture, or video and we choose to share it, and if a startling number of Internet users also find that thing amusing, we, together, consciously create a tidal wave of meme that elevates that piece of media to viral status. We choose these gems from the noise.”

Molly’s piece is totally right; Facebook is removing the humanity and personality of sharing web links and news articles.

i'm sorry I don't mean to piss anyone off but...

disbeetchesweed:

say I was born naturally aggressive. you could say that aggression was in my genes. now I’m 19 years old and someone said something that really rubbed me the wrong way. I got really pissed and killed them. I go to court blah blah would it be a viable excuse for me to say that it’s in my genes and it wasn’t my fault that I killed them I was just born that way. shit’s fucking bullshit.

Magic. I can see a lovely career in law for you. Or medicine. Even if this ‘angry gene’ exists, it wouldn’t validate anything because killing someone is still illegal. Don’t know why you used this analogy because being gay (at least in this country, UK) isn’t illegal.

Homosexuality is straight up fucking weird. If you say you’re born that way then why can’t everyone be born every fucking way they are. just kuz I have the urge to kill someone doesn’t mean I should/have to do it. same fucking shit. You learn to fight your urges isn’t that what being an adult is?

If you can “fight an urge”, it ain’t genetic. I thought that was the first fundamental rule of genetics? Also, again you’re analogy doesn’t work.

They go and try to adopt kids/have people make babies for them.

Well, since society is, and always has been, based on the progress of generations, yeah that would make sense. And since the amount of kids that need adopted parents and loving homes, I can’t see why this is a bad thing.

wake up and smell the fucking coffee, shit you’re doing is fucked. if everyone was gay it’d be the end of our species. that shit sound cool/right?

But, you just said a line ago they were having children, what? Also, you’re basing the idea the reproduction can only occur through sex and forgetting about sperm/egg donation or IVF. If the whole human race was gay, reproduction would still be possible just not through conventional methods. Though, with your expert knowledge of human biology, I didn’t expect you to think of that.

Just because something feels good doesn’t mean it’s right and you should go do it. Heroin feels fucking amazing. Heroin is also the only drug that an animal will pick over food. So you’d rather starve to death and die to get your fix. same shit yo.

That doesn’t make any sense so I won’t even try to dissect it.

Homosexuality is a disease. Straight up…

Only, well, just about every medical professional would say otherwise but what do they know, right?! They only have fucking degrees.

CERN Gets Closer to Proving It Broke the Light Speed Barrier → theatlanticwire.com

New tests at the European science facility CERN yet again confirm the results of their prior experiment which showed faster-than-light particles, reports the BBC and The Washington Post. Back in September, CERN scientists clocked neutrinos — funky, ghostly particles that pass through every square inch of Earth billions of times a second — at 60 nanoseconds faster than the speed of light. Sixty nanoseconds was all that was needed to confound living physicists by calling into question of the linchpins of modern physics: the Einstein’s theory of relativity, which stipulates that nothing can travel faster than light. “In one experiment, five young mothers were observed interacting with a 6 month old called beth. They smiled at her often and offered her dolls to play with. She was seen as ‘sweet,’ having a ‘soft cry’. The reaction of a second group of mothers to a child the same age, named Adam, was noticeably different. They offered him a train or other ‘male’ toys to play with. Beth and Adam were actually the same child, dressed in different clothes.” —Experiment detailed in my sociology textbook to detail the early impression of gender roles. (via emaconly)

I urge you to sign this petition as opposed to others, as this is the official whitehouse website's petition about SOPA/the bill to restrict internet rights/turn us into China. → wwws.whitehouse.gov

This is fucking terrifying. The bill, in short, will make it much easier for content producers to block whole websites from the internet from connecting to the website to even searching for it. It also allows websites to be taken off the internet if they even link to infringing content (so that’s Facebook, Twitter, TUMBLR and even fucking Google.) No doubt, if it passes, it encourages other countries to adopt similar laws.

“Higher speed limits will bring increased revenue as we burn much more petrol to charge up the backside of a speed-limited coach or lorry. But as far as safety goes, it is dangerous to rest on statistics. Drivers should be attentive to changing conditions and drive accordingly. Unfortunately modern cars promote a desensitised, controlled experience that gives the illusion of safety” —

gordonMack commenting on the M5 crash and motorway safety

This has been the only thing bothering me about this whole news story. The police and the media shift their focus on blaming something external despite it could have very well been someone, stupidly, not driving to conditions.

Why the hell has Chris Ashton written a book about the world cup?

What’s it going to say in it?

“We went to New Zealand, played like shit, sexually harassed a hotel worker then came home. The End.”

I have a feeling it was publishers being overly optimistic but even IF they won, it’d still be pretty shit.
